Day Two

So, I had the idea, but now where do we go?  I love writing, and I love sharing truths about God, so maybe we should start there.  The blog title talks about “sharing stories of God’s abundant grace”, but what is grace, exactly?  I’m glad you asked.

Grace is God’s goodness towards those who deserve only punishment, or God’s unmerited favor.  Because we are completely unable to earn favor with God, the only way we could be declared righteous is if God freely provides salvation for us by grace, totally apart from our work.*

*Adapted from Bible Doctrine by Wayne Grudem

“Since all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, they are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption which is Jesus Christ.” (Romans 3:23-24, emphasis mine)

“For by grace you have been saved through faith; and this is not your own doing, it is the gift of God – not because of works, lest any man should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9, cf. Titus 3:7, emphasis mine)

We are not accepted before the Lord because of anything that we do here on Earth.  We are justified because Jesus Christ died on the cross, and took our pain, so we do not have to suffer!  If we are going to use this blog as a place to share stories of God’s grace, I can’t think of a better place to start than the ultimate grace-filled gift.  Christ died so you and I could spend eternity with Him in Heaven!  It doesn’t get any better than that!

So, if you feel up to it, go ahead and introduce yourself in the comments.  If you are a believer, how did you first hear the gospel?  If you’re not a believer, have you ever heard the gospel?  Do you have any questions that I can tackle here?
